Bay de Noc Universalist Fellowship recieves national honor

Bay de Noc Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship, of Escanaba, has been designated as a “Good Trouble Congregation” for its efforts to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote in the 2022 elections. The Bay de Noc UU Fellowship was one of 24 UU congregations across the country to receive this honor. The UU Church of Farmington was the only other Michigan congregation to receive this designation.
The late Congressman John Lewis challenged all of America to “work collectively to get in the way of injustice and get into good trouble to build a truly multiracial democracy.” JaZahn Hicks, Director of the Unitarian Universalist Association voting rights campaign, challenged congregations to put their faith into action and uphold the legacy of the late Congressman John Lewis by getting into “good trouble”.
Together with Unitarian Universalists across the country, over 2 million voters were reached. The Bay de Noc UU congregation’s efforts were non-partisan and not related to any specific candidate.
